What do I have to do to start racing
online?
To race you need to use Papyrus NASCAR
2003 by Sierra. After you get some practice in racing with the
computer cars you need to setup an account with Sierra. Start the
game and go to Multiplayer, click "Race Sierra". If you don't have
an account select "Create Account"; you will need to create one to
get your on-line racing name and password for Sierra. After you
create your Sierra account, you can apply to join Simcar.Info. To
join just send an
email asking to be included. We will send you an application to
join. After we receive and approve your application we will send you
the information you need to start racing with us. |

I am very interested in doing this but I
am fairly new at this, could you point me in the right direction so
I can learn set ups and practice with other people that will not
get upset with beginners?
Most of
our members will help you get you up to speed. I would suggest that
you join Simcar Info and attend some of our practice races, and ask
for some help. We all have to start somewhere and we remember how
intimidating it can be. All we ask is that you are a clean and
courteous driver, you don't have to be fast. The speed will come
with practice. |

What are the odds of giving my friend a
tryout? He is very clean. Like me, he is more concerned with a
good race rather than winning.
Just have your friend send an email and ask to
join. We are always looking for clean drivers that are more
interested in a good race than winning. |

Have you
changed your policy about forced cockpit view? I have a hard time
driving from inside the car and don't want to cause others any
problems.
Yes! All races are run without forced
cockpit view unless otherwise noted. The only races that will be
forced cockpit view will only be in selected series. At this time
all races are open view or with forced cockpit view off. |

Can I sit in and watch a live race one
night?
Members are welcome to join us for all
practice races. If at any time you feel uncomfortable, you can park
your car and watch if you like. We all were rookies at one time, and
we don't care how fast you are, only that you race clean. The speed
will come in with practice. |

Which tracks
do I need to download to be ready to race all Simcar.Info tracks?
You will need
Eight Bowl, Hillside and Papyrus tracks from
Papyrus, Bullrun, and
Cleveland from
The US
Pits, and Mesa Marin is available from
Project Wilefire. |

|
I was unable to get Bullrun and Cleveland installed. I can’t seem to
get it in the right place, yet all the others tracks are where they
should be.
When you run the
installs for Bullrun and Cleveland it wants to install to "C:\Program
Files\NASCAR Racing 2003" use the Change button and
find "C:\Papyrus\NASCAR
Racing 2003 Season", click next. |

What is the best way to let faster cars
by?
The best way is to send a chat to pass
you low. Most guys are used to passing on the inside, with the car
being passed on the out side. At first this may seem harder for the
car being passed, but if you are on the outside you will carry more
speed through the turns. If you go low you may have to slow it to
keep from drifting up into the other driver or you could get down on
the apron, and that could cause you to shoot up the track into
someone. You should try practicing running the high line, at most
tracks you can turn some close to normal lap times on the high side
with some practice. When you get the hang of letting people pass
low, you will find that you don't lose much time to them and can
generally slip behind them coming out of the turn. Like anything
else it just takes some practice. |

What do you mean by 2x and 3x pit
frequency?
The game allows for increased tire wear
and fuel usage. When we say 2x pit frequency we are saying that the
game will cause 2 times the normal wear. So your tires and gas will
only last half as long if the pit frequency is set to 2x pit
frequency or 1/3 as long as normal for 3x pit frequency. |

How many points does a driver receive
for provisional if he is unable to make a race?
You need to check the rules for the
event in question. If there's nothing noted in the rules about
provisional points then a driver that notifies us that they can not
make a race will receive the points for one position less than the
number of attendees. If we are not notified then the driver will
receive the next spot. Example: If we have 10 drivers show up for a
race and driver 'a' sends an email that he can't make it and driver
'b' does not send an email. Then driver 'a' will get points for 11
spot and driver 'b' receives points for the 12th spot. |

Where can I find the expert setups?
You can get the expert setups at
Project Wildfire, on
the left side click on setups. Near the bottom of the setup page you
will find Expert Cup setups, download and install. This will add the
expert setup to the tracks that came with the game and the Papyrus
tracks, but not all the add-on tracks we run. The expert setup
installs like the tracks and you don't need to change anything, just
use the default settings. |

How do I get more life from my tires?
The trick to tire wear is to go through
the turns smooth. You can judge this by listening to your tires. The
more noise your tires are making the more tire wear you are causing. |

Is there any way to stop the pit crew from banging on your car
during pit stops, besides keeping the car off the wall in the first
place?
On pit stops you can stop them from
working on your car by pressing the "F9" key and hitting the space
bar. On short tracks this may be ok because the damage won't effect
your speed that much, but on speedways if you don't repair the
damage you may lose too much speed. |

Under moderate damage what stays damage
and what doesn't? After I was involved in an accident I never could
get back up to speed, even drafting!
As I understand it you can get the same
type of damage from moderate as with realistic. The difference being
that it is not as severe and does not take as long to repair,
however you can still be damaged to the point that complete repair
cannot be done. |

Do you ever announce the penalties?
No we don't announce the penalties,
but in future series we will probably list them on the Web site with
the race results. We didn't start the season doing it and don't
think it would be fair to start mid season. We do let those who
receive penalties know, and those who file a complaint. |

How do you feel about guys like me that
drop out of a race for what ever reason like maybe lack patience, or
frustration. I want to keep running with the gang but if you feel
this spoils it for the rest please let me know.
We would rather you drop a race than to
say something that shouldn't be said or for you to get so upset that
you drop the series or quit running with us. We have all been there,
and understand. Just remember if we are running for points it will
cost you. Do what you have to to have fun; that is that we are here
for! |

I would like to submit my car to the
site, but on the back of the car it has one of the seven dirty
words, I don't know what the rules are on profanity/nudity on the
cars?
All cars must be submitted in good
taste; no profanity or nudity. |

I can't logon to Simcar.info server; it
says I'm not qualified to run in this race?
You need to have an LPI of 1 or more to
join. So if you have a new ID that you haven't used it won't let you
in until you run another race and get an LPI of 1 or more. You need
to join one open race with at least 4 driver and 10% or more in
length. You only need a one or better so one race will be enough.
You can see your LPI in the top right hand side of the screen after
you login. |

I have
painted my car and it doesn't show up when running on line, why?
You need to selected your car from the
player screen for multiplayer. From the Player screen click on
multiplayer and select your car. Sometimes it won't come up right
away, but will after a few minutes or when the server changes
sessions. Other things that can keep it from coming up is leaving
and rejoining the race with a different car or when 2 cars that try
to join that have the same number. |

My controls aren't working properly,
what do I do?
Make sure you calibrate your wheel and
pedals from time to time. From within the game go to Options -
Controls and click on Calibrate. Also from Options - Controls click
on Advanced, for steering Linearity try running it at 75 - 85% this
will help smooth out any problem you might have in your wheel. You
may also want to check your control calibration in you Windows
control panel. |

I was reading the rules and saw
something about auto chat messages going into the pits. How does
that work?
The auto chat messages allows you to
send a chat messages with one key press. Auto chat can be setup in
the "Options" menu under "Other". If you put a $ sign at the end of
the line all you have to do is press a number 0 - 9 and that message
will be sent. If you don't have the $ sign at the end you will have
to press the number and hit return. |

Question about frame rate. I go by the
book in trying to get a better rate but barely hit 25 fps, any
pointers?
If you have done everything in the book
i.e., turned down your graphic settings. You should also try turning
down the number of sounds. If this just started I would look for
anything you might have changed first and clean up your temp files,
empty your recycle bin and run defrag if you haven't. |

do you have a Paypal account to send
